Das Außergewöhnliche an Ludwig van Beethovens Sonaten für Klavier und Violoncello, unabhängig von deren musikalischen Reichtum, ist, dass sie als einziger geschlossener Zyklus in nur fünf Werken alle wichtigen Schaffensperioden dieses Giganten der Musikgeschichte abbilden. Zum Beethoven Jahr 2020/21 widmen sich Björn Lehmann (Klavier) und Marcus Hagemann (Violoncello) dem kompletten Zyklus und bringen ihn gemeinsam mit Musikern der Südwestdeutschen Philharmonie Konstanz in einen Kontext mit behutsam ausgewählten Werken moderner und zeitgenössischer Komponisten. In drei Konzerten mit drei unterschiedlichen Programmen werden Kompositionen von Iannis Xenakis, György Kurtág, Carl Vine, Anton Webern, Franz Schubert, Sofia Gubaidulina und Arnold Schönberg in ein Spannungsfeld mit dem Zyklus Beethovens gebracht und durch zwei weitere Schlüsselwerke seines kammermusikalischen Schaffens ergänzt.
Begleitend findet in Zusammenarbeit mit Konstanzer Schulen ein mehrtägiger Junge Reporter Workshop statt. In einem verflochtenen Programm aus moderierten Proben zum Konzertzyklus, Künstlerinterviews und Schreibphasen sowie gemeinsamen Konzertbesuchen lernen die Teilnehmer*innen die Spezifika der unterschiedlichen Werke kennen und setzen sich aktiv schreibend damit auseinander. Der Workshop wird geleitet von der Journalistin und Medientrainerin Julia Kaiser aus Berlin, die das Konzept über Jahre entwickelt und auf internationalen Film- und Musikfestivals verankert hat.

The extraordinary thing about Ludwig van Beethoven's sonatas for piano and violoncello, regardless of their musical richness, is that they are the only complete cycle within five works that cover all the important creative periods of this giant in musical history. For the Beethoven year 2020/21 Björn Lehmann (piano) and Marcus Hagemann (violoncello) dedicate themselves to this complete cycle and, together with musicians from the Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz, bring it into a context with carefully selected works by modern and contemporary composers.
In three concerts with three different programs, compositions by Iannis Xenakis, György Kurtág, Carl Vine, Anton Webern, Franz Schubert, Sofia Gubaidulina and Arnold Schönberg are brought into conflict with Beethoven's cycle and complemented by two other key works from his chamber music oeuvre.
A young reporter workshop for pupils will also take place in cooperation with schools in Constance. In an interwoven program of moderated rehearsals for the concert cycle, artist interviews and writing phases as well as joint concert visits, the participants get to know the specifics of the different works and actively deal with them in writing. The workshop is led by the journalist and media trainer Julia Kaiser from Berlin, who developed the concept over many years and anchored it at international film and music festivals.
